During two weeks, I peed just a small of the time, all over, to determine if these products lived up to their promises of a leak-free lifestyle.

What are trampolining and breaking into the sprint, and sniffing in common? If you’re among those 34 percent of females suffering from pelvic floor problems, The answer is simple: all of them have the large risk of a tiny leak.

Although those muscles can be strengthened through pelvic floor exercises, such as keels and with help by a pelvic floor specialist, the market for underwear is now crowded (sorry) with brands which offer protection backup.

For two weeks, I four brands-four brands: the KnixConfitexViita Protection and Dear Kate–and we peed just small amounts, but just around everywhere: at workplace meetings, in the gym and in the supermarket. Did these pee-proof pants live up to their promises of being leak-free? Here’s what I discovered.

The technology is working

The goal in this experiment was to test whether it was worthwhile for me, who, having had a baby, was able to identify small leaks and was able to get rid of my cotton shirts and opt for something more sophisticated. I’m far from having a problem with incontinence, however should I do not remember to put on my Kegel before running for the subway or if a cough catches me off guard, there’s a decent chance that I’ll poop, only a tiny bit. Nothing can put an end to your workday more than peeing during a budgeting meeting.

In this somewhat baffling experiment, some pees that weren’t scheduled were natural, while others were intentional (if you’re interested in whether you can be in the middle of a conversation and not stop to pee, then this isn’t the case). But this underwear that I tried dealt with the actual pee and the smell quite well.

It gets a little hot in the area.

Many pee-proof clothes boast of the wicking system that is whiz-bang and keeps you dry and comfortable, and this was the case across all brands tested, though it was hot in the midst of the test at times. As in, very hot, especially in the andies that provided more protection. It was, however, just a small cost to be able to go anywhere and whenever I would like.

Use according to the directions

Do you remember the euphoria, intoxicating, that you felt when you first did a pee in the ocean? The sensation of relief that occurs when you pee outside than in the bathroom with no consequences? The same thing happens with the pee-proof underwear. However, no matter how liberating it is, these items don’t have the capacity to function as your personal, portable Great Lake. The quantity of urine they’re intended to hold is different between brands and a few times during the experiment, I decided to play the fences to test the waters. I ended up spending the remainder days of my day feeling as if I was in a diaper that was wet.

It never felt like I’d given up on my life

As I was first introduced to the idea of pee-proof underwear, I imagined the over-padded, comically large underwear I received in the hospital following the birth of my daughter’s birth. However, all of these brands were comfy, adorable and looked more attractive than my other workhorse underwear. (It is important to note that all the underwear I tried were full-coverage or boy-short models. Thongs that are pee-proof exist, and I offer my respects to anyone who is brave enough to test these.)

They last when washed.

All brands performed well in cold-water machine washes during the process of testing. (Because it’s not like anyone would have time to wash something on their own?)

The main takeaway:

Although pee-proof undies aren’t an alternative to striking your pelvic floor stronger, having the couple of pairs available in the season of allergy or those who suffer from a persistent cough to be prepared it happens, makes life much more comfortable. There was no one standout from the rest, however the price ranges between $25 and $50 per pair, it does depend on your individual’s preference and the amount you’re willing to invest in a piece of clothes you’re planning to use to pee.
